How to Respond to a Suspension Notice

When you receive a notice of re-examination or suspension
  • If the suspension is immediate, request the first available date for a hearing

    • You may usually make the request by phone (Sacramento (916) 227-2970).

      1. Note the date, time and the name of the clerk who took your request.

      2. Confirm the phone request in writing by certified mail including the date, time and clerk's name. For Sacramento area, mail to:

        • Office of Driver Safety
          4700 Broadway, 2nd Floor
          Sacramento, CA 95820

    • Fax requests are not recommended.

  • If there is no suspension pending or in effect, a written request for your most convenient date is sufficient.
